x_Module Title

You may remember the infant sleep states from module two. Light, or active, sleep is considered to be important for brain development. During light sleep, babies dream, and their brains become active, causing brain cells to grow and develop. Images in dreams stimulate brain function.

Deep sleep is quiet sleep with no dreaming. In this state, there is little or no movement. This sleep is important to allow the baby’s brain time to rest and the baby’s body to grow.
